TOPONYMY
Kuala Pilah is said to get its name from the Sungai Pilah river. The word “pilah” came from the word “bilah buluh” (“bilah” is a Malay numeral classifier for “blade-shaped, or thin-long objects”; “buluh” refers to “bamboo”). Bamboos were found in large quantities within the area and were used to make household items like baskets etc. In the process of making baskets, the bamboos had to be cut into thin and long pieces. The word “Bilah” somehow changed to “Pilah” and that is how “Kuala Pilah” got its name (http://diamondhill55.blogspot.com/2009/03/asal-usul-nama-kuala-pilah.html)
TOPONOMI
“Bilah” lama-kelamaannya bertukar sebutan menjadi “Pilah” (http://diamondhill55.blogspot.com/2009/03/asal-usul-nama-kuala-pilah.html).
