ATTRACTION
Belum forest is an eco-tourism park, where the forest ecosystem has been around since 150 million years ago and some of the trees here are over the age of 150-600 years. There are a variety of travel packages / activities are available for visitors which will lead them through the secondary forest at the bottom region of this forest that are filled by various species of endangered tropical rainforest hardwood trees such as meranti, cengal, Keruing and ironwood. The soil in a tropical rainforest is often low in nutrients. This is because, once an area is open, the nutrients in the soil will flow away and what is left underneath is mud and sand. In addition, Belum forest is also full of herbs and plants that can cure a variety of diseases (Gerik District Council, 2011).

TARIKAN
